Ingredients
When looking for a good bison dog food for your dog, you want to ensure that bison is the first ingredient. Bison is generally not as readily available as other proteins such as beef and chicken so a lot of time it is used with other meat and protein sources, however even then as we showed above it can still reign supreme in the formula. In addition to bison you’ll also see a lot of vegetables, with sweet potato being a favorite, some will contain rice while others pride themselves on being grain free.
Formulas
When it comes to most dog foods you can get them in at least two forms, and quite often three forms; dry, wet and freeze-dried. That is not the case with bison, all the formulas we came across were dry food. We tried to find the reason for this but were unable to come up with anything.
Packaging
As bison food only comes in dry formulas all of them come in bags. While at least some of the packaging is recyclable, depending on where you live, we were unable to confirm if all of them are. Many people prefer their dog food packaged this way as it means that they have to buy it less often and it’s quicker when it comes to mealtime for your dog.
