This breed was also used in dogfighting. The Hozankai society is the main power responsible for preserving this breed. The AKC officially acknowledged it in 1972.

The Box will inherit its giant size from both of its parents. It will have a stocky and muscular body, which will make its weight a whopping large value. It will generally have a face similar to that of the Akita with triangular ears and eyes having the same spark and fire. They are mainly bi-colored with white to a range of any other colors, including brown and golden.
