The Bulloxer is a breed often misunderstood for the more renowned breed, the Bull-Boxer. Yet no, the Bulloxer is a cross between the Bulldog and the Boxer. This breed is almost on par with the Bull-Boxer, if not better than it. Yes, this claim is audacious, but after reading about this boy at the same level as us, you’ll understand why we are making such claims.
The Bulloxer, like most hybrids, doesn’t have a clear history or motive. We know that at some point, it was created by crossbreeding the Boxer and the American Bulldog. This breed is also known to have originated in the USA. Apart from that, to understand it, we need to look at the history of its parents. The American Bulldog is a reasonably known breed thought to have descended from the common ancestor of all Bulldogs, the Asiatic Mastiff. The breed is known for its prowess in fighting and guarding. The species was pretty notorious in the 1800s because of its strength.
The Boxer is another strong breed. This breed is thought to be descended from the Tibetan Mastiffs. The actual development of this breed can be tied back to Germany in the 1800s. This breed was crossbred with the German Bullenbeisser. Similar to the Bulldog, this breed became recognized for its fighting strength. It was even more desirable because of its friendly nature beyond the ring. The AKC accepted the breed in 1904.
The Bulloxer is a medium to large-sized breed, with two very similar breeds as the parent. It will have the muscular form of the Bulldog coupled with the tall height of the Boxer. The coat of the breed is short and smooth. The facial features of this breed will closely resemble those of the Boxer. The shape of the skull is square, and the eyes are medium round. The Bulloxer has lean, tall legs, and the waist of this breed is slim.
How Big do Bulloxer Get
The Bulloxer is a large breed with a considerable lean body. The females of this breed will have a height ranging between 22 to 254 inches. The males will have a height range of 22 to 245 inches. The Weight will vary between 70 and 90 lbs for both genders.
How Long Does Bulloxer Live
The Bulloxer will live a comparatively healthy and long life. The longevity of this breed will usually border at 15 years and 10 years. This wide range may shift based on the medical attention, diet, and exercise that it receives.
How Much Does a Bulloxer Cost
The Bulloxer is an endearing breed, just like its two parents. To get this joyful little guy by your side, you will have to allocate at least 1000 dollars. As usual, the price will vary based on the health of the puppy and the region of the breeder.
The Bulloxer has the friendliness of the Boxer and the protectiveness of the Bulldog. The Bulloxer will remain to all humans in the family. It can become quite friendly with pets too if it is socialized from an early age. The breed is brilliant but stubborn. This stubbornness will cause problems.
You have to give it multiple sessions of obedience training to keep it in line. We would not recommend this mischievous boy for first-timers. The Bulloxer, though tame and friendly, is still relatively large. We would advise keeping a close eye on it when it’s around children. It would never hurt any human intentionally, but accidents may happen. Overall it’s a good boy/girl and will take good care of its family.
Caring for Bulloxer
So the Bulloxer is you, little buddy, what now? Now you make sure that it gets the proper care. It’s your responsibility to take good care of your little boy.
The Bulloxer is a medium to large breed with a trim tummy. We would recommend giving it at least two cups of highly nutritious food per day. You may increase this portion based on the exercise that it’s getting.
How to Groom a Bulloxer
The Bulloxer is a relatively easy breed to groom. Why? Its short coat sheds somewhat less. A quick brushing session every week should keep it free from matted hair or dead hair. You could brush it more frequently to spread the oils its skin produces. You will have to make sure that its nails don’t grow very long. Bathe this breed when you feel an odor wafting from it. Apart from that, clean its ears from excessive dirt or moisture. Finally, the essential part is attempting to maintain good dental hygiene.
Bulloxer Activity Levels
The Bulloxer is a moderately active breed. We would recommend giving it at least 30 minutes of intensive exercise per day. Try to keep them sheltered from extreme weather activity because their short coat reduces their weather tolerance.
Caring for Bulloxer
The Bulloxer is not a very hard breed to maintain. Its grooming needs are, on average, less demanding than the other breeds. A quick brush, baths when it needs one, is the least that any breed needs. Training this breed is slightly problematic and can be time-consuming. The average untrained or inexperienced person would have problems training it.
Socialization won’t be a significant problem with this boy/girl. This breed would be recommended for people who have experience with dogs.
The Bulloxer is one more breed in the short list of species that exceeds its expectations. Why? Despite being a hybrid, this is one of the most disease-free and immune breeds out there. The only significant concerns that you may face with this breed’s health are Bloat and Colitis. Even these are highly unlikely to affect it as long as it gets the proper diet and exercise.
Yet, we would recommend remaining on the safe side by taking it for consistent checkups as often as you can. Give it through checkups, including X-rays, Blood counts, Elbow tests, and any other tests your vet recommends. Try to get the vet’s opinion on its diet and the optimal exercise for it. That’s pretty much all for this beautiful breed.
