The Clumberstiff is one sweet boy/girl. It is, and we must stress this impossible to hate this breed. It’s adorable, cute, and heart-warming. It loves being around its humans, and no matter what, it will enjoy your company.

The breed has various other traits and quirks that make it suitable for almost any household or person.

Clumberstiff History

Clumberstiff Dog Breed Information All You Need To KnowSimilar to most hybrid breeds, the Clumberstiff has an unknown and foggy history. To understand it, we must look at the history of its parents. The Clumber Spaniel is the first primary parent. Its history is attributed to the mingling of the Alpine Spaniel and the Basset Hound. As you may have guessed from its name, the breed was bred around Clumber Park.

The breed was quickly accepted by the wider audience, especially the nobles of the time. The Clumber Spaniel was primarily a scenting breed with superb retrieving capabilities. The AKC accepted it in 1878.

The Second parent to the Clumberstiff is the Bullmastiff. This breed is thought to be a cross between the English Bulldog and the English Mastiff. This breed had always been about strength and power. That’s why it was unfortunately subjected to the torture of the ring in the 1800s. Luckily these tortures were eliminated by the end of the 18th Century. It was allowed to become a mellower as a result of this. Primarily it was bred to protect, and it stays true to this cause even today.

Clumberstiff Characteristics

Think about a breed meant for endurance, and you’ll have the best definition of the Clumberstiff. Coincidentally even its name has stiff in it. It has a strong and sturdily built body. It will either have a short coat that resembles that of the Bullmastiff closely or a double-layered and insulated coat similar to that of the Clumber Spaniel. The only other thing of relevance about its physical appearance is its brilliant oval eyes. The rest is a combination of both parental traits.

How Big do Clumberstiff Get

The Clumberstiff is something in between the Bullmastiff and Clumber Spaniels proportions. The height range is more towards the upper medium and between 21 to 24 inches for both males and females. Consequently, the weight range for this breed is 80 to 110 lbs for both genders.

How Long Does Clumberstiff Live

Both parents are relatively healthy breeds and live comparatively long lives. The Clumberstiff consequently will live between 12 to 14 years. The lifespan will be highly dependent on the quality of its diet and its exercise.

How Much Does a Clumberstiff Cost

The Cost of a Clumberstiff puppy will be highly dependent on the area you live in and the puppy’s health. The price will usually be higher than 600 dollars because of the prices of the parents.

Clumberstiff Temperament/Personality

Here’s the thing that Clumberstiff isn’t stiff at all. We don’t know why anyone would give it such a misleading name. Jokes aside, this is an affectionate breed with a streak of humorous goofiness. The breed has no problems with young, old, or teenage humans. The breed will quickly adapt to almost anyone. One slight problem, though, is its strength, and it may unintentionally hurt children slightly. Thus supervision around children would be recommended.

It may harbor aggressiveness to other pets based on the dominant parental traits. Usually, it’s a mellow breed with no ill intent on hurting anyone. To be on the safe side, give it socialization sessions when it’s young. Training it can be a pain if you don’t adopt the right approach, especially in its more rebellious younger age. This is a breed that some of you may adore, and some of you may not understand.

Caring for Clumberstiff

The Clumberstiff is a merry-go-lucky breed that doesn’t give two hoots about the world as long as you stay beside it. To keep it that happy always, we would recommend giving it tender care with fatherly/motherly love.

Clumberstiff Nutrition

It’s a medium-sized breed that requires only three cups of food normally every day. Yet it will blackmail you into giving it more, but you have to stay strong. Obesity is a genuine problem with this breed, so it would be best to stay cautious.

How to Groom a Clumberstiff

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word grooming? Obviously, it’s the coat. Fortunately for you, the coat of the Clumberstiff isn’t as stiff as you might suppose it is. Brushing its short coat weekly should be enough to keep it in order. Preferably, we would recommend more frequent brushing sessions so that its skin’s oils can be distributed amply. Bathe it only when you feel a pungent odor coming from it. Use a vet-recommended shampoo for bathing it so that it doesn’t lose its natural oils. Apart from that, just use the natural care routine of trimming its nails and taking care of its teeth. Brush those with canine toothpaste every other day, and everything should be fine.

Clumberstiff Activity Levels

The Clumberstiff is by no means an outdoor guy. It would rather enjoy a tasty snack, kick back and enjoy than run around unnecessarily. That’s exactly why you have to take it out as often as you can. At least 40 minutes of activity per day is the requirement. Rough exercises can damage its bones, especially when it’s young, so please look after it with caution.

Caring for Clumberstiff

The breed with the misleading name is an easy-going breed that anyone can manage using the right methods. Grooming it can’t get any easier; genuinely, it only needs a few consistent sessions per week. Socialization is a subjective thing, though normally, it’s harmless. If it does exhibit some aggression, then something must have ticked it off very badly. Training finally isn’t much of a problem for this breed, though it may, in unlikely cases, inherit a stubborn streak. In those cases, a firm hand and reward-based systems should help. That’s pretty much all for this breed.

Clumberstiff Health

The Clumberstiff as a hybrid inherently experiences a vast number of weaknesses to various medical conditions. These conditions include Hip/Elbow Dysplasia, hypothyroidism, Bloat, Obesity, and various eye problems. With the onset of age, its immunity to these problems will diminish even more.

That’s why you must take care of its weekly medical check-ups. Keep in touch with your vet (figuratively) to get timely advice for your little buddy’s best health. Apart from that, keep a close eye (figuratively again) on the diet of your Clumberstiff. You will need a stiff routine for it to follow (Yes, that was the last stiffness joke)
