Doberdane is protective, friendly, and courageous. These Noble dogs adopt these worthy qualities from their parents, both of which are well-known dogs out there. This loyal dog results from a cross between the Doberman and the Great Dane. These dogs are super loyal and love to make their owners happy and play with them. Though, they tend to be reserved around new faces. 

Just like the other Doberman mixes, they have sparse coats with straight hair. Their appearance usually shows a lot of variation from individual to individual. The Great Dane is an old dog breed. The tallest dog to ever exist was a Dane named Zeus. These incredible dogs were made from a cross between the Mastiff and the Wolfhound in Germany. They were initially used for hunting. Their popularity increased in the 1800s, and AKC officially recognized them in 1887.

Doberdane Characteristics

Doberdane is tall, sturdy, and athletic. They have a graceful aura around them which is enhanced by their large-sized, muscular legs and rectangular heads. Their ears are mostly upright (can be floppy) and rest on a long and blocky head. Their muzzle is long, tapered, and parallel to their skull and has a black nose at its tip. 

Their coats tend to show a lot of variation and are dependent on which parent breed dominates in them. Typically, it is smooth, glossy, and silky. The hair are usually short, straight, and of a medium-density. Possible coat colors include Black, brown, red, fawn, and brindle. 

How Big do Doberdane Get

Doberdanes have a large size and a muscular and athletic body. The males have an average height of 30 – 35 inches and an average weight of around 100 and 140lbs. The females have an average height of 30 – 30 inches and an average weight of 95 and 140lbs.

How Long Does Doberdane Live

Usually, the large-sized doggies have a shorter life span as compared to the small-sized and medium-sized dogs. So, these graceful canines have an average lifespan between 8 – 12 years. You can easily tip this scale upwards by taking good care of them and providing the adequate attention they need.

Doberdane’s price varies from breeder to breeder. They are considered rare, so you may have to pay a fortune to get your hands on one of these. On average they cost between $1500 and $3000. As a large-sized canine with high energy levels, this dog needs to eat a little more than the average dog. You should expect to feed them up to 4 cups of dog food daily. You can mix these four cups in a large bowl and then divide them into three meals and feed them thrice per day.

How to Groom a Doberdane

Grooming this adorable dog with a flawless coat is quite easy. But their coats are usually short and dense, and they don’t shed a lot; this means you don’t have to worry about brushing them that often. But as a rule of thumb, brush them at least twice per week. Clean their ears and the corners of their eyes with a dry and clean cloth and brush their teeth ideally 2 – 3 times per week. Clip their nails as per need.

Doberdanes are highly active dogs. They love to play and spend time with their family. They have an adventurous spirit, due to which they love going. On average, they need at least 75 minutes of activity daily. This can be in the form of walks or playtime.
