Ingredients

Forza10 Dog Food TypesWhole anchovies or anchovy meal are the primary ingredient in most of their dog food products. Anchovies are anti-inflammatory and pack a high omega-3 fatty acid content in addition to being high in protein. Pork is also commonly included as a protein source. Rice and potatoes are their main carbohydrate sources. Legumes and peas are also included in all of their products, which are a great source of plant-based protein, fiber and nutrients. Their recipes also include “microcapsules” of fruits, vegetables and supplements such as pineapple, papaya and ginseng, which contribute valuable vitamins and minerals. Other standard botanicals also are added, which contribute a variety of health-boosting properties.

Forza10 supplements all of their dog foods with a host of minerals, though with the exception of copper, none are chelated. This makes the minerals less bioavailable and harder to absorb. Chelated minerals are usually found in high-quality dog foods, so it is surprising that it is not included here. It is important to note that dried yeast is included in all of Forza10’s recipes. Yeast is a useful source of healthy minerals and protein, though some dogs are also allergic to it. Some prebiotics such as fructooligosaccharide are included to promote gut health and good bacterial growth to aid in digestion.

Included in their recipes are multiple types of oils, including fish oil, salmon oil and vegetable oil. Fish and salmon oils are generally considered to be healthy additives, depending on the quality. They contain  EPA and DHA type omega-3 fatty acids. However, vegetable oil is generally considered to be an undesirable component because it has low nutritional value and is to generic to identify the origin.

Forza10 sources their ingredients from across the world, including New Zealand and Iceland. Their anchovy meal, the primary ingredient in their dog foods, is sourced from the Arctic and Antarctic Oceans.

All of Forza10’s recipes are nutritionally balanced with some variety between different formulas. On average, 36 percent of their calories in their dry mixes are derived from carbohydrates, 36 percent from fat and 28 percent from protein. Fiber content is around 3-4 percent, which is on par with the recommended value for dog foods.

Comparison to Other Leading Brands

Forza10 is a very expensive brand, aimed at dog owners willing to shell out more money for specialty ingredients and formulas. A 25-pound bag of their specialty dry dog food can cost over $100, though smaller sizes are also available to try out for a lower price value. Their wet dog food is sold in cases of 32 3.5-ounce cans for $57, or about $1.78 per can.

It is difficult to compare Forza10 to other brands because they are so unique and specialized. Brands like Blue Buffalo and Natural Balance offer some products that are aimed at treating certain ailments, and at a much lower price.

Recall History

Forza10 has not had any recent recalls, which is reflective of their high standards for quality in safety in all their products.

Coupons and Discounts

Many of Forza10’s products are available for purchase through the typical major dog food sellers, though some must be special ordered on their websites and shipped from their factories in Italy. The best deals can generally be found on Chewy and Amazon, though the Forza10 website is the only place where their full product line is available.

Forza10 Dog Food Review Conclusion

We give Forza10 a ranking of “great”. If you are willing to shell out more money to provide your pup with the best, this is a great brand to look into. However, we do recommend that you consult directly with your veterinarian when making treatment decisions for your dog’s health issues, including specialized diets like those offered by Forza10.
