Goldenshire is intelligent, loyal, and entertaining. These lovable dogs adopt their admirable traits from their parents, both purebred and very popular dogs. This Dog is a hybrid that results from a cross between the Yorkshire Terrier and the Golden Retriever. This is the kind of Dog that will make you think that sometimes best friends are furry.

They are small-sized canines with a tendency to shed frequently, just like their parents. They are usually very friendly and make good companions. Their small size means that they are a good choice for people living in apartments if they can take care of their high activity requirements.

Goldenshire History

Goldenshire Dog Breed Information All You Need To KnowGoldenshire is a new designer breed that is still struggling to make its name in the dog world, and there isn’t much we know about its history. So, let’s look at their parent’s histories to get to know them better. Lord Tweedmouth developed the Golden Retriever by crossing a Water spaniel with his Dog, Nous. He was aiming to get a dog that had an excellent nose and outstanding Retrieving skills.

Yorkshire Terrier is believed to be the decedent of a show dog named Huddersfield Ben. This Dog was quite popular in the 1800s where it was used in various shows to display its beauty and skills. In 1872 the first-ever Yorkshire club was made, and soon after, in 1874, the Yorkshire Terrier was recognized by The British Kennel Club.

Goldenshire Characteristics

Goldenshire’s appearance can vary from individual to individual depending on the dominating parent breed. There is a big size difference between the two parent breed, so it is quite difficult to generalize the outcome of a cross between them. But typically, your Goldenshire will be larger than the Yorkshire Terrier and smaller than the Golden Retriever.

They have a triangular ear that can be erect or flopped and stand on a head that is covered in medium to long hair. Their muzzles are of medium length and support a black or brown snout at its tip. Their coats are somewhat dense with medium to long wavy hair. The most common coat colors are black, brown, and blue.

How Big do Goldenshire Get

As we’ve already mentioned, Goldenshires are small-sized dogs. The males tend to have an average height of 10 – 15 inches and an average weight of 25 – 30 lbs. The female Goldenshires are slightly small; they have an average height of 10 – 12 inches and an average weight of 20 – 25 lbs.

How Long Does a Goldenshire Live

Small canines usually live longer than the larger ones, as they have small bodies that don’t face a lot of wear and tear as they age. So, the Goldenshire, as a small dog, lives an abundant life. They have an average life span of 12 – 15 years. You can ensure that they live towards the upper end of this scale by taking good care of their needs.

How much does a Goldenshire Cost

The price of any pup depends on various factors that include; the reputation of the breeder, the parent’s bloodline, and the litter’s size. On average, a Goldenshire may cost you between $500 – $2000.

Goldenshire Temperament/Personality

Goldenshires are intelligent, affectionate, and playful. They are very obedient and can be trained quite easily. But it would help if you kept in mind that a hybrid dog can adopt different qualities from any of their parent. Still, luckily, this canine has a lot of good, admirable traits.

Usually, Goldenshires dances to the beat of his/her drum and acts like the king of the house, so you’ll need to keep its attitude in check. Otherwise, you may end up with a misbehaving dog that thinks it can get away with anything. They get along with other pets and animals if socialized early on.

Caring for Goldenshire

Caring for your companion will require some effort from your end. It would be best to ensure that you’re using the right kinds of products. You need to take care of their coats, nails, and teeth, so they keep looking their best. Feeding them the right kind of food in the appropriate amount is essential to avoid any weight issues. Finally, making sure that they get their activity requirements met so that they don’t become lousy.

Goldenshire Nutrition

Goldenshires are small canines with high levels of energy. They need to eat a lot to maintain a healthy weight. But feeding them too much can cause obesity. Generally, they do well on 3 cups of dry dog food per day. You can also give them wet dog food to mix things up; giving them treats now and then is acceptable if you don’t overdo it.

How to Groom a Goldenshire

The long coat of the Goldenshire can get matted and tangled easily. So, it would be best to brush them daily with a curry or hard-bristled brush. They should also be bathed when necessary; excessive bathing can result in dry skin, which is highly irritable for the Dog. Cleaning their ears and brushing their teeth at least once a week is essential for their well-being.

Goldenshire Activity Levels

Goldenshires have a lot of energy in them that needs to be dissipated. They also need to exercise to maintain good cardiovascular health and a healthy weight. So it would be best to take them out for walks, swims, or hikes and ensure at least 90 minutes of activity per day.

Caring for Goldenshire

As an intelligent and affectionate dog, The Goldenshire needs constant mental stimulation and human contact to remain sane; otherwise, they can develop self-destructive behavior and separation anxiety. So, ensure that you don’t leave them alone for long periods and spend a lot of quality time with them.

Goldenshire Health

In addition to their good looks and admirable traits, the Goldenshires also live healthy lives. Usually, they don’t develop any diseases or health concerns early on. Still, they can develop problems like Patellar Luxation, Hip Dysplasia, and Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease, with age.
