Italian Papihound History

Italian Papihound Dog Breed Information All You Need To KnowAs a new designer breed, the Italian Papihound doesn’t have much history to its name. But we can look at its parent history to reveal more about these canines. The Papillion is believed to have originated during the 16th century. Various famous women of Europe cited them as their favorite breed.

The Italian Greyhound is believed to have its origin approximately 2000 years ago. The Skeletons of these old canines have been recently found in Greece and Turkey. This breed was also the favorite pet among the royalty; it is believed that one of the Kings of Prussia owned Italian hounds and is buried right next to his dogs!

Italian Papihound Characteristics

The Italian Tzu is a hybrid that can adapt its appearance from either of its parent. For example, it can resemble the Italian Greyhound with its short, smooth hair and a sleek athletic body. Or, it can look more like the Papillon with a long flowing coat that’s silky to the touch.

But generally, the Italian Papihound has a small head with a long muzzle like the Italian Greyhound; their nose is usually black and their eyes brown. Their coats are slightly dense with medium-length and straight hair. You can find them in various colors like grey, red, fawn, blue, black, white, and cream.

Italian Papihound is a combination of the sweet and affectionate Italian Greyhound and the smart and active Papillion. However, it would help if you kept an eye on them when they are around children and people who are inexperienced with dogs because they tend to mishandle the dog, leading them to become slightly aggressive.
