The Malanees is a hybrid breed resulting from a cross between The Alaskan Malamute and the Great Pyrenees. It is a large, beautiful, and hardworking dog who is not only vigilant, intelligent, and athletic but also super calm, sweet, gentle, patient, and loving. Its characteristics are similar to that of the working class dogs, and it has a lot of dedication, devotion, and determination.

Because of their independent and strong-willed personality, they are quite difficult to train and require a firm and experienced hand. However, if one is determined to train these majestic animals, one will surely succeed as long as one remains persistent. The key is always to use positive reinforcement so that the dog also cooperates.

Malanees History

Malanees Dog Breed Information All You Need To KnowThe Malanees doesn’t have an in-depth background story because it’s a new breed, but fear not! Its parents have been around for a long time. The Great Pyrenees was developed in the French Pyrenees Mountains, where it got its name and was created for the purpose of guarding flocks. It was perfectly capable of protecting other animals from hunters or wolves/bears and was also a lovely companion.

The Alaskan Malamute was developed by Nomads (the Inuit people) in Alaska several years ago. It was created to pull sleds because it was a strong, reliable, fearless, and hardworking dog. In addition, the Alaskan Malamutes are quite affectionate and have been very close to people, which is why they’re super loving and don’t do well on their own.

Malanees Characteristics

The Malanees dogs have a gentle, sweet, loving, affectionate, independent, strong-willed, devoted, and calm personality, and depending on which parent is more dominant in them, they’ll be sweet, loving, caring, and strong, or they’ll be fearless, watchful, vigilant, patient, and gentle. The Malanees are a perfect combination of all the wonderful qualities of both parents!

They have a double-coated fur that is thick and dense and of long length. The coat can come in many colors, such as black, white, gray, silver, brown, and red. The texture of the coat is normally straight but may vary. Also, it is mostly observed that the tall and triangular ears of the Alaskan Malamute are dominant in the Malanees.

How Big Do Malanees Get

A regular adult male Malanees has a height of around 25-32 inches and weighs around 85-100 pounds, whereas a regular female adult Malanees has about 23-29 inches height and weighs around 75-90 pounds. When they’re only six months old, they are around 17-18 inches tall and weigh between 52-58 pounds.

How Long Does A Malanees Live

The average lifespan for a Malanees is 10-12 years. It’s generally a healthy dog and is likely to live a full life. We can also play our part in tipping this number up by giving proper care to our dog and ensuring it has a good diet, enough physical activity, lots of love, and positive energy.

How Much Does A Malanees Cost

Malanees dogs are a new breed and, therefore, not very common. So, it can be pretty tough to find them. But, on average, they cost somewhere between $900-$2000 depending on their quality and the breeder we buy from. Other expenses include vaccination shots, license, crates, doghouse, etc.

Malanees Temperament/Personality

The Malanees is calm, patient, affectionate, and super loving. But apart from these, it does tend to bark a lot because of its Pyrenees parent, who likes to be vocal. In addition, we’re gonna need higher or electric fences ’cause it’s child’s play for the Malamutes to escape, and we can never be sure if the Malanees inherits that skill!

Their affection is not limited to any age group; they are very friendly with children as well! They make wonderful companions, and even if they are pretty difficult to train, once trained, they’ll prove themselves to be the most amazing pets ever! If we train them during the early stages of their lives, they’ll learn quicker, and the newly learned habits will stick with them in the long run.

Caring For Malanees

Ensuring that our Malanees are given proper care, enough treats after teaching them something new, and good food is a great first step in caring for them. In addition, we should give them a healthy diet, the right amount of attention, positive training, encouraging words, and love, and they’ll be the happiest dogs ever!

Malanees Nutrition

In the puppy stage, our Malanees is gonna need plenty of proteins and essential nutrients for healthy growth. It is advised to feed it chicken, oats, and good quality dry dog food. It is better to keep it on a grain-free diet and give it raw foods after consulting with the vet as it grows older.

How To Groom A Malanees

The Malanees is quite easy to maintain when it comes to bathing. However, the Malamutes have been famous for shedding so much that one could make another dog out of the fur! So if that quality is inherited, our Malanees will need daily brushing with the help of good brushes to get rid of loose hairs or dirt. In addition, we should trim their nails twice a month for good paw health.

Malanees Activity Levels

The Malanees dogs are moderately active and are neither over-energetic nor too passive. So, they will need to engage in physical activity for at least 90 minutes daily to stay in shape. Taking them out for runs, jogs, playing fetch, or training can be highly beneficial for both our mental health.

Caring For Malanees

The Malanees are lovely dogs and, like all other dogs, will require positive reinforcement, a healthy diet, enough exercise, the right amount of attention and love, and mental puzzles and challenges to stay happy and fit. But, no matter how difficult they get to train, we must not lose hope and always maintain a positive attitude!

Malanees Health

Malanees belong to a class of hardworking dogs, so they’re not likely to develop any diseases during their lifetime. However, it’s best to stay safe and watch out for concerns like entropion, cataracts, diabetes, glaucoma, dermatosis, platelet dysfunction, cervical vertebral instability, elbow dysplasia, and osteochondrodysplasia.
