Both of the Shi-Beagle’s parents are similar in their jobs and temperaments. The Beagle is a dedicated hunting dog, like the Shiba Inu. The main difference between them both is their conception. The Shiba Inu is an older dog compared to the Beagle. We can expect the Shi-Beagle to have peerless hunting instincts and a strong sense of loyalty.

The rest of the things about the Shi-Beagle will be explained below.

Shi-Beagle History

Shi Beagle Dog Breed Information All You Need To KnowUnfortunately, the Shi-Beagle has no fixed history. We are forced to rely on the history of its parents to understand it better. The Shiba Inu is an ancient Japanese breed. These dogs are known for their tenacity and keen instincts. In Japan’s wildlands, they were frequently tested against small birds and prey. The Shiba Inu is also one of Japan’s smallest hunting dogs. During the great wars, these canines nearly went extinct. This breed was then resurrected with a few dedicated breeding programs and government funding.

The Beagle is a breed that originated in the United Kingdom. According to experts, the birth of this breed occurred around 4 to 6 centuries ago. However, we are unable to pinpoint the exact time or place. Over the years, the breed has been called various names, including Jelly Dog and the Regal Beagle (This one surprised us!). The breed rose to prominence after appearing in “Snoopy the Beagle.” The AKC recognized the breed in 1885.

Shi-Beagle Characteristics

The appearance of the Shi-Beagle will vary based on the parent that it takes after. There aren’t a lot of consistent features, but there are some basic things that we can pin down. The coat will be short to medium length and slightly dense or dense in appearance. The colors for the Shi-Beagle will vary between Black, Brown, White and Red. The body of the Shi-Beagle will remain short and slightly muscular.

How Big do Shi-Beagle Get

The parents of the Shi-Beagle are small. We expect the Shi-Beagle to stay between 13 and 17 inches tall. The female Shi-Beagle will be a bit shorter than the males. The appropriate weight range for this canine is 18 to 30 lbs. You can keep the weight within the right range through a good diet and healthcare.

How Long Does Shi-Beagle Live

Like most Beagle mixed breeds, the Shi-Beagle has a lifespan of 10 to 13 years. The 13-year limit isn’t set in stone; if your dog is well-cared for and leads a healthy lifestyle, it can live much longer. You’ll find more information about the right lifestyle for your canine in the Caring section below.

How Much Does a Shi-Beagle Cost

The cost of a typical Shiba Corgi will remain between $300 and $800. This is the initial cost, which varies depending on the breeder and your location. There are also utensils and medical costs to consider. The other costs will remain between $1200 and $1400 per annum.

Shi-Beagle Temperament/Personality

It can be difficult to train the Shi-Beagle. The primary reason for this is the Shi-Beagle’s autonomy. These canines are always trying to test their limits. They want to know whether the person in command is fit for reigning over them. You will have difficulty training it if you do not know how to be firm (Not harsh!). Patience is more important than anything else when training this dog.

Generally speaking, the Shi-Beagle is perfect for families. These canines are playful, affectionate and lovable. The only problem with the Shi-Beagle is its lack of compatibility with other pets. Their hunting and hounding background makes them a hazard around other small dogs. Early socialization is the only way to get rid of this problem.

Caring for Shi-Beagle

Diet, exercise, health, and grooming are all addressed in the following section. All of these are related to your dog’s lifestyle, and it is your responsibility to be fully informed about them.

Shi-Beagle Nutrition

The Shi-Beagle will need around one to two US standard cups of food per day. A day’s worth of food will usually cost between $300 and $400 based on the brand that you are using. Besides the food costs, you will also need to get a Dog Bowl and a Dog Food Container. Dog bowls have a larger base area to prevent them from toppling over, so you can’t use normal bowls.

How to Groom a Shi-Beagle

The Shi-Beagle has a medium-length coat that sheds moderately. You will need to put in a bit of effort to keep its coat clean and free. Brush its coat at least thrice per week to avoid any problems. You will have to trim its nails and brush its teeth as well. The next important thing is bathing it once per month. Their ears can accumulate a fair bit of dirt, which leads to infections. You should clean its ears every three to five days.

Shi-Beagle Activity Levels

Every day, the Shi-Beagle will require approximately 90 minutes of activity. You might think this value is excessive, but remember your canine needs this exercise for better health. The good news is that there are different machines that you can use to decrease this value. You can get a Dog Treadmill or an Automatic Fetch Machine.

Caring for Shi-Beagle

What is the one thing that every canine requires? What is the one thing that can save your canine from chewing on toxic things like different plastics? What could save you a lot of money on medical bills? The answer to all of these questions is Chew Toys for Dogs. These cheap and safe toys will keep your canine preoccupied with its vain munching and chewing. We recommend getting a chew toy that your canine cannot swallow.

Shi-Beagle Health

The Shi-Beagle can be affected by conditions such as Idiopathic Epilepsy, Deafness, Microphthalmia, and Wobbler’s Syndrome. The Shi-Beagle is also vulnerable to at least eight to nine other ailments. Because of its small size and unique mix of parents, it has a x4 multiplier for inheriting genetic conditions on its head. These conditions won’t necessarily affect your canine, but there is a high probability of at least one of them influencing your canine.

Giving your dog the proper care is the only way to save it from the plight of these conditions. You must monitor its diet and lifestyle, particularly during its early years. At the very least, you should see your veterinarian once a month.
