The Siberian Cocker is a mix of the Siberian Husky with the Cocker Spaniel. Both of the canines are entirely different in proportions and temperaments. It makes their combination even more intriguing. Why would anyone decide to combine these two canines? Were there any specific plans or aims in the breeder’s mind?

We can’t answer these canines, but we can answer numerous other questions about this canine.

Siberian Cocker History

Siberian Cocker Dog Breed Information All You Need To KnowThe person who created this breed left no documentation as to why he made it. As a result, it is up to us to examine its function by analyzing its parents. Both parents are companion dogs from the working class. The members of the Chukchi tribe would frequently be accompanied by a Siberian Husky. These dogs would protect the people of the tribe and save them from all manners of hazards.

The Cocker Spaniel was also a hunting-working class dog. These canines were often used for hunting small animals like mice and other small ones. These canines were named after the “Woodcock” birds. The Cocker Spaniel is descended from the general spaniel family. Based on its parents, the Siberian Cocker could be an attempt to get a friendlier canine.

Siberian Cocker Characteristics

The Siberian Cocker has the distinct appearance of the Siberian Husky. However, this canine is smaller and squarer than an average Siberian Husky. These canines will have almond-shaped eyes and erect ears. Their muzzles will be short or medium length. Their bodies should be well-proportioned but smaller than the Siberian Husky.

How Big do Siberian Cocker Get

The Siberian Cocker will mostly be a medium-sized canine. It will have a bulkier and more prominent appearance if it takes after the Siberian Husky. The males will typically have a height range of 16 to 20 inches, while the females will be 13 to 17 inches tall. The weight range for males should stay between 30 to 40 lbs, while the females should have a weight range of 26 to 35 lbs.

How Long Does Siberian Cocker Live

Lifespans for these canines have not been documented. However, if we infer and derive its lifespans from its parents, the Siberian Cocker should live between 12 and 15 years. It won’t even make it to 10 years with below-average care, so caution and proactivity are necessary here.

How Much Does a Siberian Cocker Cost

The average cost of small canines like the Siberian Cocker should remain around $500. Market fluctuations are common, so anticipate a $200 or more change. Usually, if it takes after the Siberian Husky, it will cost more initially and later.

Siberian Cocker Temperament/Personality

The Siberian Cocker was most probably bred for its companionship abilities. However, we cannot deny the Cocker Spaniel influence. If the Cocker Spaniel side wins, it will have a hard time keeping its paws off of small pets. You will have to socialize it to reduce its aggression towards small animals. We recommend supervising it around children and small pets. On the plus side, the Siberian Husky influence will make it tamer and happier.

Training it should be a piece of cake because both parents are obedient canines. You may have to be firm (Not Harsh!) at times, but overall, it should be a pleasant and easy experience. There are some basics to training canines you may not know about. You can learn about the basics as you train your dog or be proactive and research everything beforehand. We know some good Dog Training Books that can help you!

Caring for Siberian Cocker

A good owner should take care of their pet’s diet and lifestyle to the best of his abilities, but how will you do that if you don’t know what your canine needs? The following section will educate you about the Siberian Cocker’s needs and its ideal lifestyle.

Siberian Cocker Nutrition

The Siberian Cocker is a small to medium-sized canine. Based on its proportions, it will need between one to two cups of food. The more food you give your canine, the better it will be. You have to understand that your canine needs the best to maintain its health. You should get food from brands like Eukanuba Dog Food and Canidae Dog Food to keep your canine happy.

How to Groom a Siberian Cocker

In comparison to other canines, grooming the Siberian Cocker isn’t difficult. Brush it three to four times per week to keep its coat free. You can also get a Vacuum for Dog Hair to make the job easier. Brushing the Siberian Cocker’s teeth every day or every other day will keep its dental health in good shape. Trim its nails every three weeks to keep its paws clean and free of infections. These canines should be bathed on a per-need basis. Excessive bathing will destroy their skin and health.

Siberian Cocker Activity Levels

These canines need about an hour of exercise every day. Their playful nature allows them to enjoy different types of drills and games with the same enthusiasm. You can play games of fetch with them or take them for walks to deplete their energy levels.

Caring for Siberian Cocker

This dog can withstand everything except for heat and separation. You have to keep these canines around you; otherwise, they will develop separation anxiety. Interact with your canine to keep it happy and peaceful. There is no greater remedy to the woes of existence than love. The other problem is heat, which the Siberian Cocker will have a hard time surviving through.

Getting some Dog Cooling Vests is one thing you can do to keep your canine safe from the heat. These vests will keep your canine cool even as it stays mobile. It’s also a good idea to avoid taking it out for walks or other activities in the afternoon. To keep it safe, schedule its outings in the evenings, especially if you live in warm countries.

Siberian Cocker Health

Mixed breeds typically have a lot of health concerns. Some of the conditions that can affect this canine are PFK deficiency, Ectropion, Otitis Externa, Hypothyroidism, and various others. You need to be careful if you want your canine to stay safe. Being proactive is the only way to save your canine from a majority of these conditions. You don’t have to be a clairvoyant to take care of the basic things.

Take care of its lifestyle and take it to a vet. Don’t go around being a vet, and don’t take anyone’s word on home remedies unless that person has some certification. That is all it takes to save a canine from the worst health conditions.
