The Slovensky Cuvac became part of the official studbook about thirty years ago by a professor named Anton Hruza, who worked at the Brno Veterinary College.

The breed club was in Bratislava, and its established kennel was called Ze zlaté study. The breed is known for its calm, loyal and fearless personality.

It is said about the Slovensky Cuvac that once it remembers something, it never forgets it. With proper training and exercise, any dog can be trained to be a family dog; however, it is not for average pet owners.

Slovensky Cuvac Characteristics

The Slovensky Cuvac is a mountain dog having a big head and white coat. The dog is confident, alert and suspicious of strangers. The breed compromises of a dense coat on his overall body with the exception of his legs and head. The inner coat is soft and thick, and the upper coat is 5 to 15 centimeters in length.

The upper coat is harsh to keep the dog warm in cold temperatures. They have oval-shaped brown eyes with a black nose.
