The Bogle is a hybrid dog produced by the crossmatch of the two famous dog breeds, the Boxer and the Beagle. It is larger that needs plenty of room to run and play. Thus, you cannot keep this dog in the apartments. It can live its best in open areas, especially the rural area.

It is a human-friendly dog but doesn’t exactly know how to handle kids. After proper training and socialization, this designer dog will act in the way that you want. The reason behind this is, it is an intelligent dog that takes no time to follow your commands.

Bogle History

Bogle Dog Breed Information All You Need To KnowWe don’t know much about Bogle’s origin, so we will look at its parents’ history to determine its background. Both the parents of this hybrid are old and known to be hound dogs. In England, the Beagle was produced during the 1300s to use for hunting hares. It is an AKC recognized popular dog breed.

In contrast, The Boxer belongs to Mastiffs’ Tibetan line, and it traces back its origin to the 16th century. Boxers are believed to get their name from using paws like that of a boxer in a fight. A boxer club was also founded in Munich in the 1800s. It is also an AKC-recognized breed that ranks among the top ten popular dog breeds.

Bogle Characteristics

As it is a hybrid dog, so its characteristics can be dominant for one parent breed or the other. Generally, it is large having a sturdy appearance. If the Boxer parent traits are dominant, then his muzzle will be shorter. Either it will have a thinner and longer muzzle in case of Beagle traits dominancy. Continue reading to know other traits.

How Big to Bogle Get

Bogle has a large size with a weight of 50 to 60 pounds at maximum. The male Bogle is relatively bigger than the female one. The height of this breed can range from 23-30 inches for a fully grown-up tyke.

How Long Does Bogle Live

Bogle can enjoy an average life expectancy of a normal dog. We have discussed earlier in articles that larger dogs have relatively shorter life spans, but this may not be applicable in Bogle’s case. It may inherit the life span from parents anyhow it is noticed to be living for about 12-15 years.

How Much Does a Bogle Cost

Being a hybrid of two AKC-recognized hybrid dogs, Bogle can have a healthy cost. Although it is rare and you will have to search for a reputable breeder. We can not confine any rates for sure but can estimate which can be starting from $500 for a Bogle.

Bogle Temperament/Personality

Bogle inherits a mixed temperament of its Boxer and the Beagle parents. This puppy is friendly and highly loyal to its owner. It can be a little aggressive if the hunting traits from the parents are dominant. However, you can alleviate this aggressiveness with the right training at the early ages of the doggy.

As a part of early training, socialize your puppy with kids and other pets to create a bonding to hurt them when grown up. Bogle is a large-sized dog that must be supervised when it is with little children or pets.

Moreover, it can start chasing any squirrel, hare, or other small animals outside, so always keep their harness with you while outside. This dog can be a little too much barky, especially when it sees strangers. This trait makes it an excellent guard dog, but you can lessen the vocals to some extent with the right handling.

Caring for Bogle

You must be thinking of having one Bogle as it can technically give you two amazing dogs at the Boxer and the Beagle. If you already have or plan to get this one, you must read on to know the essential aspects of this dog’s care.

Bogle Nutrition

Google has high energy needs as it is a large dog breed. It needs an adequate amount of food containing the right amount of protein, healthy fats, and other nutrients. We will recommend you opt for a healthy dog food that doesn’t have any fillers. Dog kibble can be best in this regard.

How to Groom a Bogle

You must need to know that Bogle is not a hypoallergenic dog, so take care of your house’s allergic members. Brush it once a week to avoid shedding, although it is a moderate shedder. Ensure weekly grooming regimen, including teeth brushing, nail clipping, and hair brushing of your canine.

Bogle Activity Levels

The Bogle is characterized by the high energy levels of its parents. It is a larger dog with high activity needs, so a big no for keeping it in smaller areas. A big yes for fence yards and rural areas where your dog can easily fulfill its energy needs.

Caring for Bogle

As we discussed, Bogle is not a hypoallergenic dog, so you must take care of its hygiene to protect yourself. Bath it once in four months at least. If you bathe your dog more often than a four-month interval, then it can get skin allergies due to excess shampoo usage in case of any dirt on the fur. Clean with a damp cloth or wipe.

If your Bogle pup has pendant ears like Beagle parent, it must clean the ears with a cotton swab every week. Furthermore, never ignore teeth brushing, nail clipping to avoid any gum infections or bacteria getting inside through the nails.

Bogle Health

Bogle is likely to inherit the disease, which is common in their parents. These diseases include obesity, epilepsy, allergies, eye and ear infections, hip/elbow dysplasia, and hypothyroidism. The major disease which this hybrid can get is heart issues, cell tumors, etc.

Fortunately, your dog is almost safe if you ensure a routine veterinary examination. It can only be at the risk of getting any one of the mentioned diseases if not properly cared for.
